Arts Award supports collaboration between departments, cross-curricular learning and facilitates links with other programmes. The flexible framework can be delivered through enrichment activities or alongside the curriculum. Arts Award works with any artform and can incorporate technical roles.
Every aspect of the award encourages young people to engage with the professional arts sector; its aim is to expose young people to a range of arts in real contexts. As such, Arts Award provides a vehicle for collaboration with arts organisations, the local community and other schools and colleges.
Arts Award offers valuable accreditation and national recognition of your students' achievements. Arts Award works for any Key Stage, including Key Stages 4 and 5 to complement and extend GCSEs and A-Levels. Running Arts Award can also contribute towards gaining Artsmark status for your school.
Four accredited levels of Arts Award are available for young people to progress through, alongside an introductory level. At each level, young people build a portfolio that evidences their creative development. The award supports personalised learning, enabling different interests and abilities to be supported.
An important part of Arts Award is participants' enjoyment and growth through the arts. Arts Award portfolios provide a clear indicator of students’ achievements and are ideal to demonstrate progress to parents and carers. Young people are encouraged to share their creative journeys with others as part of the award.
