Welcome back to a new year! We hope you have returned feeling refreshed and are as fired up about 2020 – the year Arts Award turns 15! – as we are. Look out for more information about this exciting milestone coming soon in our enews and over on the blog. 

In the meantime, the start of a new term is a good time to check your creative projects are on track – don’t forget to reach out for free support with your Arts Award delivery if you need it.

Introducing our Arts Award and PSHE resource

We are big believers in cross-curricular work, so we’ve created a new ‘Arts Award and PSHE’ resource for school-based advisers. This free resource is available on our adviser hub and links Arts Award Discover, Explore and Bronze to different outcomes from the PSHE curriculum at Key Stages 1, 2 and 3. Arts Award Voice webinar 

Ever wondered what Arts Award Voice offers? On Monday 3 February from 3.30-4.30pm we’re offering the chance for a guided tour with Gold achiever and Arts Award Voice Editor, Sienna James. Arts Award Voice is designed to help young people manage their learning, but also to give Arts Award advisers useful materials they can signpost. Sign up now.

Have you applied for Access Fund?

A new round of the Access Fund is now open! Centres working on Arts Award projects with young people who face barriers to access and inclusion can apply for a grant of up to £1,500 to help them pilot, develop, or embed their Arts Award. The number of rounds per year is changing – find out more. Apply online by Friday 28 February.

Building the Arts Award Alumni community

We’re asking advisers to encourage Arts Award achievers to join the Arts Award Alumni community. They’ll get an annual Keeping in Touch newsletter, plus a range of useful discounts including theatre tokens, Arts Award adviser training and more. We regularly feature alumni on Arts Award Voice find out more.

Upcoming Arts Award webinars 

We will be hosting a webinar focused on Silver Arts Award delivery on Wednesday 18 March, from 3.30-4.30pm. Please check back on our adviser hub for further details nearer the time. Meanwhile, if you have colleagues who would like to learn more about the basics of Arts Award, our ‘Getting Started with Arts Award’ webinar on Wednesday 5 February 2020, from 3.30-4.30pm will help.

Arts Award and Sing Up partnership

In case you missed it, don’t forget to check out our new partnership with Sing Up! You can explore how to sign up and get involved using our free resources in time for Sing Up Day on Wednesday 11 March (and get a nice discount on Discover entries at the same time).

From CPD in teacher training, through to early-career support, Arts Award is a great option to boost your practice, build your professional networks and raise your profile in your school. We’ve created a dedicated site for trainee teachers and NQTs – please signpost this to any colleagues or PGCE/SCITT networks you are linked to!
