Hello Colleague,

We hope this autumn term has started productively for all of our advisers based in schools. Wherever you work, it’s a great time of year to launch new creative projects with young people. If you’d like help planning your Arts Award projects, don't forget that support is available. In this edition of our newsletter for advisers and Arts Award centres, you’ll learn about co-producing arts rich projects, getting young people you work with involved in TrinityTalent 2019, and how to link Children’s University with Arts Award, plus more.

Arts Award training near you

Do you want to expand your Arts Award offer? If you’re looking to deliver another level of Arts Award, or would like other team members to become advisers, take a look at our upcoming training courses. Many new training dates have recently been added to our website to kick-start the 2019/20 academic year, so now is a great time to find a suitable course near you.

Trinity drama specification developments

Drama teachers will be keen to hear about recent changes to Trinity’s drama offer, designed to make working towards graded exams even more relevant. Developed by leading industry professionals with today’s performance landscape in mind, the new specifications work across the full range of contemporary drama teaching contexts. As ever, there will be the flexibility to choose the repertoire that best suits your learners.

Arts Award annual Guide 2019/20

The Arts Award annual Guide for 2019/20 is now available, offering useful information for educators, parents and young people. If you would like to request copies of the guide to use at your centre, you can do so here – copies are free, you just pay postage.

Could your project be eligible for Access Fund? 

A new round of the Access Fund is now open! Centres working with young people for whom access and inclusion is an issue can apply for a grant of up to £1,500 to help them pilot, develop, or embed their Arts Award work with young people. Find out more and apply online by 18 October.

Co-producing rich arts projects with young people 

As part of our webinar programme on 19 November we are offering a free one-hour webinar exploring the important and current topic of co-producing arts rich projects. It will include a look at the wellbeing of students and staff, the latest research, how you can utilise your existing arts offer, and best-practice hints and tips – find out more.

Best Practice Guidebook coming up

This autumn, we will be launching a new Arts Award Best Practice Guidebook, aimed at everyone involved in Arts Award at your centre, and containing essential information on how to administer Arts Award. Find out more.

Sign up for new Teachmeets with Trinity

Launching this term, join Trinity for a series of local Teachmeets exploring arts education in the classroom and beyond. Hear from fellow arts teachers and explore the hot topics of arts education in a supportive network. If you’d like to contribute to the Teachmeet with a quick-fire presentation on your work, register your interest. Booking for all Teachmeets is free – book online

TrinityTalent | Class of 2019

TrinityTalent is a celebration of young people who use their work towards a Trinity exam to extend their creative or personal development in a notable way. The Class of 2018 gallery can be seen here. As well as young musicians, in 2019 we’ll be calling for nominations of Arts Award achievers who have shown particular artistic achievement, creativity, progress or leadership. Teachers, parents and peers can nominate, and those chosen for the gallery receive a commendation certificate from Trinity, plus other opportunities. Nominations open on Monday 7 October and close on Friday 13 December at voicemag.uk/trinity-talent
 

Awarding Children’s University credits with Arts Award

We are pleased to be working in partnership with Children’s University, having supported their arts and cultural Learning Destinations to offer Arts Award alongside their education programme. As part of a pilot this summer, we awarded participants 4 CU credits on completion of their Discover Arts Award certificate.
