Spring is finally here and with it arrives many opportunities to engage, excite and empower young people through Arts Award. In this issue, we offer advice on how to make the arts accessible for everyone, show you examples of how to build Arts Award into your curriculum and help you navigate summer moderations.

Metacognition and how it links to Arts Award

Following the Education Endowment Foundation’s recent report on metacognition and self-regulated learning, we explore the value of metacognition for young people’s learning and how Arts Award can help them develop skills around planning, monitoring and evaluating.

Summer moderation timeframes

Are you planning a moderation this summer? BOOK THIS WEEK if you’d like it to take place before the end of the summer term – a minimum of eight weeks notice is needed for Explore/Bronze/Silver/Gold standard moderations. Find out about all the moderation options available. Read more.

Arts Award toolkit update

An updated version of the Bronze, Silver and Gold adviser toolkit is now available. Ensure your adviser toolkit is up to date so you are working with the current criteria and guidance for Arts Award. You can find a summary of changes on the Arts Award website, easily accessible with your adviser login; you can also download the updated pages for free to keep them handy. Read more.

Help with moderation this summer

If you’re planning a moderation this summer, register now for a free one-hour webinar to support you. The webinar takes place on Wednesday 6th June at 3.30pm. If it’s your first moderation, you may be interested in our support sessions, including surgeries and one-to-one support. Read more.

Arts Award support surgeries

Our free support sessions offer Arts Award advisers the chance to refresh knowledge and explore ways to make Arts Award work in your organisation. A range of dates and themes, such as Make Your Own Logbooks and Low Literacy/SEND/Digital, are bookable on the adviser hub now. Read more.

Arts Award Voice hubs replace young people's booklets

Check out the redesigned Bronze, Silver and Gold hubs on Arts Award Voice. Following feedback from young people, we’ve decided to phase out the Bronze, Silver and Gold booklets from the Arts Award Shop and replace them with online hubs. Read more.

Special Edition case studies

We’re celebrating the Shakespeare Challenge and First World War Special Edition certificates which are both set to finish in December 2018, so we're looking to feature young people who have already achieved them on Arts Award Voice.
