If you are supporting young people towards their Gold Arts Award, they may wish to use their qualification to support a university application for the upcoming academic year – Gold carries 16 points on the UCAS tariff system.
In order to do so the moderation for their portfolio needs to have taken place by 26 June 2019. More information on Gold Arts Award and UCAS can be found in our Frequently Asked Questions.
Remember, Standard and Joint (Host) moderations must be booked at least 8 weeks in advance. Please see the moderation section of our website to see which moderation option is right for you.
Did you know that you can request a remote support session if you would like help with your Arts Award delivery? You might also be eligible for a face-to-face visit to your centre, should you meet our priority criteria. These sessions can cover a refresher on a particular Arts Award level, help you plan a project, have a check-in during the delivery of a project, or look at portfolios pre-moderation. Please note that from April 2019 we will no longer be offering support surgeries.
We also offer a range of webinars on topics such as ‘Delivering an accessible Arts Award’ and ‘Meet the moderator’, that you can watch live or access a recording of whenever is convenient for you. Check out our upcoming dates and previous webinars recordings.
We also hope to do more informal Facebook Live sessions to offer the chance to ask questions of a member of the support team, or an Arts Award moderator. Our first dates are planned for over the summer, so keep an eye on our Twitter and Facebook channels for more information.
A little reminder that, when preparing for moderation, it is important to ensure an adviser assessment report form has been completed and signed for each of the young people entered for moderation. These need to be laid out with the young people’s portfolios ahead of the moderator’s arrival.
The ‘evidence’ box on the assessment report form should clearly indicate where the evidence for each part can be found within the portfolio, and the adviser who assesses the portfolio must also be the name given in the ‘adviser’ column at the point of enrolment. Remember, the moderator is looking to see that you have understood the evidence criteria for each part of the award, and are able to identify where in each portfolio the evidence can be found.
Adviser assessment report forms for each level are available to download on the Adviser Hub. We also offer a step-by-step guide and examples of completed Discover, Explore and Bronze forms for further support and guidance.
